It features a built-in 20 bit A/D converter for high quality recording. It has digital I/O capability for both optical and coaxial and achieves up to 4 hours operation with 4 "AA" batteries.

When SBM came along we had previous SONY/CBS releases to compare them to and I found the SBM titles consistently more sharply focused sounding while simultaneously less accurate harmonically (less real sounding). This is the illusion of better resolution in the low/midrange that SBM is designed to make. I don't like it, that's all.
